This paper addresses the problem of modeling the thermal conductivity of carbon nanotubes (CNTs) of submicron length that have relatively low point-defect concentrations. Point defects are taken into account at the ends of these CNTs to model the commonly encountered situation where point defects are introduced unintentionally at the ends of the CNT under prevailing fabrication methods. Herein, previous models for thermal transport in graphite are adapted to investigate the thermal transport properties of CNTs. (C) 2009 American Institute of Physics. [DOI: 10.1063/1.3095759]
