摘要
In the grinding process, the coolant contains several chemicals to improve the grinding efficiency, but such chemicals degenerate the atmosphere of the workplace, which is harmful to workers and also causes environmental pollution. This study focuses on the cooling effects of compressed cold air when a spindle shaft material (SCM21) is cylindrically ground with a white alumina (WA) and a CBN wheel. The cooling effects of compressed cold air are explored and compared with that of normal coolant. The compressed cold air is also efficient in minimizing the thermal defects of the workpiece and can also play a role in solving the problem of environmental pollution. (C) 2002 Elsevier Science B.V.
