摘要
This paper is concerned with reported work on corrosion behavior of aluminum based particulate metal matrix composites (PMMCs). Corrosion of aluminum based PMMCs begun with its pitting initiation on the interface of the PMMCs. Stress corrosion crack (SCC), Potentiodyanamic test and immersion test in different salinity like 3.5% NaCl, HCl on aluminum based PMMCs have been reported by various authors, which predicts the pitting corrosions. The finding of reported works revealed that corrosion tendency is more in case of SiC, Al2O3, B4C, Fly ash as based PMMC as compared to base alloy, however the opposite trend were reported in the case of TiC and ZrSiO4,. The fabrications route like stir cast, powder metallurgical, in situ, squeeze cast also influence the corrosion behavior. Findings on Corrosion inhibitors for aluminum based PMMCs were also incorporated to have cognizance of various corrosion inhibition treatments. (C) 2015 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.
