摘要：

As a master work in both feminine literature and African-American literature, Their Eyes Were Watching God plays an important role in literature history. Besides the researches that have been conducted from the perspective of feminism or African-American culture, the biblical archetypes used in this novel are also worth studying. This paper focuses on the Eden archetype used in the novel and searches its underlying meanings. After digging the deep meaning of the symbolic plot and characters, this novel can be understood from a new perspective.
