摘要
Little attention is given to what people with psychiatric disabilities think, about their neighbourhoods as desirable pierces to live. Much of the literature focuses on what community residents think of people who are marginalized. This qualitative study examines the perceptions of consumers of psychiatric services about their neighbourhoods and highlights their experiences within these neighbourhoods. Sixty people living in independent supported apartments ill a large metropolitan area were interviewed, Two themes emerged which describe the process of accommodation to the neighbourhood: making no and passing strategies Implications of these findings are discussed.
