This paper obtains the 1-soliton solution of the Kadomtsev-Petviasvili equation with power law nonlinearity using the solitary wave ansatz. An exact soliton solution is obtained and a couple of conserved quantities are also computed. (c) 2009 Elsevier Inc. All rights reserved.
