摘要
The effectiveness of the lipopolysaccharide-mixed chloroform-killed cell (LPS-CKC) vaccine against pasteurellosis was examined in yellowtail, Seriola quinqueradiata. Vaccination stimulated the production of serum agglutinating antibodies against Pasteurella piscicida. Production of a superoxide anion, as determined by reduction of nitroblue tetrazolium (NET), was increased in head kidney leucocytes of vaccinated fish. Fish vaccinated with the LPS-CKC bacterin showed a relative percentage survival (RPS) of 60% or greater when challenged by the immersion method using three different live P. piscicida strains and the efficacy of this bacterin continued for at least 35 days after vaccination, In addition to providing protection against an artificial challenge, the LPS-CKC bacterin also provided protection against natural infection by P. piscicida.
