AN APPROACH TO THE ETHICAL CLIMATE ON SPANISH BUSINESS HIGHER EDUCATION INSTITUTIONS

This paper addresses the limited amount of research in the realm of organizational ethical climate at university. Drawing from Victor and Cullen's theoretical framework, this paper determines what types of ethical climates are perceived by lecturers at Business Studies Faculties in Spain. The results reveal that the perceived predominant climate is Instrumental, the type of ethical climate which does not promote ethical behaviour or commitment to institutions on the part of their members. The implications of these findings are significant, as the evidence that they provide can be used by universities' managers as a basis for determining the need to take measures to achieve an ethical climate more in accordance with the values that university is expected to promote.
