Synthesis of a new series of 1-heterocyclic aminomethyl 3-(4′-acetylamino-3′-chloro benzoyl hydrazono)-2-indolinones as potential antimycotics

3(4'-Acetylamino-3'-chlorobenzoylhydrazono)-2-indolinones (5-9) have been synthesised by condensation of 4-acetylamino-3-chlorobenzoyl hydrazine (4) and Isatins in presence of ethanol. Mannich reactions on 5-9 with morpholine and piperidine give the target compounds 1-heterocyclic aminomethyl-5-chloro/bromo/methyl or 5-methyl-7-bromo-3 (-4'-acetylamino-3'-chlorobenzoyl hydrazono)-2-indolinones (Mannich bases 10-18). The structures of the newly synthesized compounds have been established on the basis of elemental analysis, IR, and NMR spectral data. The compounds were screened for in vitro antifungal activity against Candida albicans, Cryptococcus neoformans, Sporotrichum schenckii, Trichophyton mentagrophytes and Aspergillus fumigatus. Some compounds displayed promising activity.
