New ion-exchange and affine sorbents based on polyelectrolyte chitosan complexes

摘要
New polyelectrolyte complexes of chitosan and copolymers of maleic acid with N-vinylpyrrolidone, ethylene, and styrene were synthesized. The complexation in the chitosan-copolymer systems was studied by turbidimetry and colorimetry. IR measurements showed that both ionic- and covalent-crosslinked complexes were formed. Sorbents based on these polyelectrolyte complexes exhibit ion-exchange properties. The specific sorption capacity of affine sorbents prepared by the modification of the polyelectrolyte complexes for wheat embryo (triticum vulgaris) lectin is six times as high as that of chitosan.
