Intoxication in a MDR1-negative Rough Collie after the administration of Profender® tablets for dogs (emodepside plus praziquantel)

摘要：
An MDR1-negative female Collie Rough dog was presented with seizures after Profender(R) tablets (emodepside plus praziquantel) had been administered at the recommended dosage. The control of the dog's intermittent seizures required a constant rate infusion of pentobarbital (Narcoren(R)) for five days. So far Profender(R) has been regarded as a safe drug with no untoward side-effects being reported when given as recommended. However, the present case suggests that this medication should only be used under strict control in prediposed dogs and pet owners should be advised of potential complications.
