Liquid-liquid equilibria of the ternary system water plus acetic acid+1-heptanol

A liquid-liquid equilibria for the ternary system, water + acetic acid + 1-heptanol, was studied over a temperature range of (288.15-318.15) K. The results were used to estimate the LLE interaction parameters for LLE between each of the three compounds for the NRTL and the UNIQUAC equations. The UNIFAC group contribution method has been utilized for predicting the interaction parameters between each of the H2O, CH2, CH3, OH, and COOH groups as a function of temperature. The UNIQUAC and NRTL equations fit the experimental data with a root-mean-square deviation (rmsd) of 0.6% for each. The results of our measurements are compared with the prediction of the UNIFAC method with a rmsd of 2.4%.
