Fisheries and Oceans Canada (DFO) continues to play a key role in the support of Canadian aquaculture research and development initiatives. The Aquaculture Collaborative Research and Development Program (ACRDP) is a DFO-run program available to industry that provides opportunities to collaborate on research projects and workshops with access to departmental expertise. The ACRDP is currently undergoing changes to its governance structure and research objectives with a focus on two main priorities of optimal aquatic animal health and environmental performance. This paper provides further information on how the ACRDP is contributing to the sustainable development of the Canadian aquaculture industry and provides further updates on the recent changes to the ACRDP and what this means for industry participation.
