Aging in quenched polycarbonate under compressive strain

摘要
Aging in quenched and subsequently compressed polycarbonate (PC) has been studied by mechanical compression, DSC and thermally stimulated deformation recovery. Evolution of yield stress with aging time was seen for quenched and then strained PC specimens, being much faster than that for what is called the physical aging of the same sample. Experimental data obtained by DSC and the thermally stimulated deformation recovery show that the strain energy given to the quenched PC specimen before aging is locked into physically aged structure more tightly with increasing aging time. Thus, the evolution of yield stress of the quenched and strained PC is probably due to the physically aged structure locking the strain energy tightly in itself.
