The prevalence of gastroesophageal reflux (GER) in the elderly population may be as high as 20%. There is little information, however, about elderly patients with GER-associated asthma. The exact relationship between GER and asthma is unclear, although the association is well recognized. This article reviews the data that link GER to clinical presentations, diagnostic tools, and treatment options.
