摘要
This article presents a review of the work conducted in our laboratories using the 670nm light to test its efficacy in preventing or slowing the progression of retinal degeneration in the rodent retinal light-damage model. Using this model as an archetype of dry age-related macular degeneration we propose that 670nm light could be a viable option in the treatment of human AMD. We have found that irradiation of the eye with the 670nm light, using LED light arrays showed beneficial effects in photoreceptor survival(1.) (2), vascular development(3) and moderating glial activation(4) in a variety of rodent models. Based on these findings, we believe that photobiomodulation with 670nm red light has a great potential in retinal therapeutics, providing a non-invasive, and cost-effective treatment in retinal injury and degenerative conditions.
