Thermal stability of poly acryloyl benzoic hydrazide and its complexes with some transition metals

摘要
Poly (acryloyl benzoic hydrazide) and its complexes with some transition metals were prepared and characterized by elemental analysis, IR, UV-vis spectra and magnetic measurements. The results showed that the homopolymer reacted with Fe(III) chloride and Zn(II) acetate in 1:1 and with Co(II), Ni(II) and Cu(II) chlorides in 1:2 (metal: ligand) molar ratio. Thermal analysis measurements showed that the thermal stabilities of the polymer complexes are higher than the homopolymer which is attributed to the formation of stable 5-membered chelate ring. Electrical measurements indicated that the homopolymer and its corresponding metal complexes are within the insulator range. (C) 2000 Published by Elsevier Science Ltd. All rights reserved.
