Phonon softening and MIR absorption in superconducting Bi1.7Pb0.3Sr2Ca2Cu3O10+x

摘要
The temperature evolution of the far-infrared (FIR) and mid-infrared (MIR) absorption spectra of Bi1.7Pb0.3Sr2Ca2Cu3O10+x (2223 phase) superconductors show a large softening of phonon frequencies in the superconducting phase (Delta omega/omega approximate to 7 x 10(-3)). The of the softening is at 130 K which is well above the superconducting transition temperature at 106 K. A change of the MIR absorption near T-c is reported and compared with earlier observations in YBa2Cu3O7.
