Comparative Study of Non-Coherent Pulse Compression and Non-Coherent Pulse Integration Techniques for Radars

摘要
Radar pulse compression can be considered as an equivalent of pulse integration, as both are intended to increase the SNR of the received signal, thereby increasing the probability of detection (PD). Thus, Coherent Pulse Compression (CPC) can be viewed equivalent to Coherent Pulse Integration (CPI), and Non-Coherent Pulse Compression (NCPC) equivalent to Non-Coherent Pulse Integration (NCPI). This paper performs a conceptual (qualitative) and mathematical (quantitative) comparison of NCPC and NCPI, followed by simulation analysis. It is demonstrated that while the two techniques are equivalent, there exists some subtle differences in performance and application scenarios.
