摘要：

Parathyroid cancer is an uncommon cause of hyperparathyroidism but poses an immense challenge to clinicians. Despite a major evolution in the surgical management of its benign counterparts, the role of perioperative adjuncts in facilitating the management of this uncommon condition remains to be seen. Radical surgical treatment offers the best chance of cure, but for patients who have refractory hypercalcemia secondary to unresectable diseases or metastases, the availability of effective targeted medical therapy may offer a therapeutic option for palliating the debilitating metabolic complication of hypercalcemia and may potentially improve survival.
