摘要
The authors investigate the impact of fiber Bragg grating (FBG) dispersion when used as an optical filter to generate optical single sideband with carrier (OSSB+C) modulation to mitigate fiber chromatic dispersion effects in a millimeter-wave fiber-wireless system. Experimental results show that significant power penalties can occur due to grating dispersion across the bandwidth of the transmitted data. These observations were verified through an analytical model which allows the impact of modulator chirp, fiber chromatic dispersion, dispersion from other network elements such as FBGs and incomplete suppression of an optical sideband, to be investigated.
