摘要：

The junction regions between metals and cerarmics and between ceramics containing the interfaces are examined. The interface regions are defined and usual failure modes that occur in investigations of new material systems are considered. Materials and interface processing is discussed, leading to reliable interfaces that have been extensively life tested in applications as seals in high temperature and high pressure vessels, such as in high Intensity Discharge Lamps.
