摘要
Advances in modern medicine are generating steadily increasing numbers of patients with respiratory insufficiency in need of long-term oxygen therapy or home mechanical ventilation therapy in an out-of-hospital setting. Since these patients are in the final stages of the disease, the focus is on maintaining quality of life during the treatment and long-term care. Disease-specific valid instruments are needed to determine various factors influencing the quality of life in large studies. One such instrument for recording the health-related quality of life is the patient questionnaire on the state of health in severe respiratory insufficiency (SRI) for the collective of patients with respiratory insufficiency. This questionnaire has been translated and validated in 16 different languages, is suitable as a primary endpoint for clinical studies and is available as an application for mobile devices.
