摘要
10-gigabit symmetrical passive optical network (XGS-PON) is capable of providing data rate of 10 Gbps in both directions i.e., upstream and downstream. This data rate makes XGS-PON competent enough to be a good choice for next generation mobile technology 5G to meet the increasing demand of bandwidth. But bandwidth is still limited and needs to be divided judiciously among the several number of optical network units present near the cellular base station. This necessitates a central authority, optical line terminal and baseband unit to implement a proficient dynamic bandwidth allocation mechanism. Thus, this paper presents a proficient DBA scheme based on dynamicity of service interval for XGS-PON based mobile fronthaul. The scheme has been implemented on network simulator NS-3 and results are analyzed in terms of numerous network performance measures. The detailed analysis confirmed the supremacy of dynamic SI based DBA method in XGS-PON based mobile fronthaul. In addition to this, the obtained results show that XGS-PON based mobile fronthaul is capable of supporting large number of ONUs/RRHs while achieving delay requirements.
