摘要
Matrix laser desorption assisted time of flight mass spectrometry (MALDI-TOF MS) is applied for identification of microorganisms in more and more hospital or private laboratories. The technique is easy to use, fast and reliable. MALDI-TOF MS identification is an efficient method, included fastidious bacteria and replaces more and more conventional identification techniques for bacterial and fungal strains. It is widely used in routine laboratory practice because of its economical and diagnostic benefits. The databases are gradually enhancing significant new taxa, requiring controlled and rigorous development. The specific standardized protocols are established to identify mycobacteria, filamentous fungi. Several systems available for routine procedures are equally systems in terms of analytical efficiency. The MALDI-TOF MS is a relevant tool for detection of resistance as well as identification of microorganism in sample. The opportunities are important, this technology is a potential efficient tool for epidemiological studies and for taxonomical classification. It also includes limits that must be integrated and managed into the routine laboratory while keeping the side expert of the technician and the biologist. (C) 2013 Published by Elsevier Masson SAS.
