Numerical simulation of the electrocatalytic layer for electrolyzers with a solid polymeric electrolyte

A model of the electrocatalytic layer for the electrolyzers with a solid polymeric electrolyte is presented. The catalytic layer is represented as a dispersion of the catalyst particles within the electrolyte matrix. The model describes the kinetics of hydrogen generation with allowance made for the ohmic potential drop in the layer and the diffusive limitations imposed on hydrogen removal. The layer parameters, at which one or another limitation starts to manifest itself, are presented.
