摘要
Initiated by the Power and Discourse Theory, the paper tries to give a sociological study of translation history. The translating process is influenced by the social power, including patriotic emotion of the translator with social responsibility, requirement of the ruling class for the smooth management of society, and exposing the reactionary backward social system for a progressive one etc. The translation is not only to render the content literally. Rather, it is the representation of the social power by resorting to the translational discourse.
