This paper deals with the andragogical basis of adult education that is by certain authors, especially M. S. Knowles, put alongside adult pedagogy. It mentions and briefly analyses self-directed learning and its link to andragogy and andragogical mindset. It also presents a glimpse of various approaches towards the relation between self-directed learning and adult education.
