The considerable stir caused by Masson de Morvilliers' article about "Espagne", published in Panckoucke's "Encyclopedie methodique", is well-known. Surprisingly, the image of Spain in Diderot's and d'Alembert's "Encyclopedie" has not been addressed yet. They present study seeks to fill this lacuna, at least partly so, by focusing on the authors of the articles (foremostly Jaucourt), on the sources they drew from, and on the way they tackled the various topics they were dealing with.
