摘要
The paper describes the preparation and characterization of nano-size orthorhombic and monosilicate Nd2O3-SiO2 mixed oxides prepared by a sol-gel method. The phase separation in Nd2O3-SiO2 system on a subsequent heat treatment in air was also investigated at constant sintering temperature 850 degrees C with varying annealing time 5-20 h. Characterization was made by X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier transformation infrared (FTIR) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Mechanisms of neodymium clusters formation in densified silica matrix with respect to thermal treatment are discussed. (C) 2009 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
