摘要
The objective of the present research is to apply the concept of Concurrent Engineering (CE) to Design for Assembly and Manufacture (DFA&M) methodology. Develpoped knowledge-based system helps the designer to assess and possibly to reduce product cost at an early design stage. It constrains the decisions concerning the choices available within the DFA process with the cost of manufacture. A case study that illustrates the potential of the developed knowledge-based system is presented.
