摘要
To characterize the vortex yam structure related to the mechanical and surface properties of fabric, structural parameters such as average wrapping angle and the ratio of areas covered with wrapping fibers on a vortex yam surface were investigated for comparison with those of ring spun yams. For rayon vortex yams, an increase in wrapping angle showed an increase in the yam tensile elongation and a decrease in yam shear modulus. Plain knitted fabrics were produced from these yams. The shear rigidity of the fabrics was influenced by yam structural parameters. The mechanical and surface properties of the fabrics and the fabric hand were evaluated. The fabric hand evaluation revealed that the vortex fabrics were considered to have less "smoothness" than fabrics produced from ring spun yarns.
