摘要
Wastewater treatment by means of fixed biofilm technology is one of the major biotechnological processes used worldwide. In this study, nitrogen removal from wastewater is achieved by a combination of nitrification and denitrification in a submerged filter biofilm. The system was very efficient for the removal of organic matter, and significantly reduced N in the effluent water. The spatial and temporal diversity of ammonia oxidizing and denitrifying bacteria in biofilms of the treatment plant was estimated by a temperature-gradient gel electrophoresis (TGGE) approach.
