In this paper, a survey of different space vector pulse width modulation (SVPWM) techniques for multilevel inverter (MLIs) are presented. The performance of any MLIs depends upon the selection of modulation technique. Compared to many PWM techniques, SVPWM is the preferred technique due to lower switching losses, high DC bus utilization, lower harmonic distortion and redundancy in inverter switching states. In this paper, four different generalized SVPWM schemes for three level inverter are presented and all the mathematical analysis involved in the algorithm are well presented for the four SVPWM techniques.
