摘要
I discuss an algebraic treatment of alpha-cluster nuclei in the framework of the Algebraic Cluster Model. It is suggested to treat C-12 as an oblate top with D-3h symmetry (equilateral triangle) and O-16 as a spherical top with tetrahedral T-d symmetry (regular tetrahedron). The structure of the rotational bands is a consequence of the underlying symmetry, and can be used to help determine the geometrical configuration of the alpha-particles.
