摘要
Mercury telluride (HgTe) nanoparticulate thin films have been prepared by an electrochemical route. Rutherford back-scattering measurements reveal the change in Hg to TO ratio as a function of electrolysis current density. The observation of quantum size effect in an inverted narrow band gap material, HgTe, with average crystalline size 5.35 nm, has been demonstrated through its transmission electron microscopy, optical absorption, photoluminescence and Raman scattering studies. Unique optical properties of HgTe nanocrystals have been observed that are found to depend upon the crystalline size and compositional ratio of Hg to Te in HgTe.
