摘要
It is argued that epistemic attitude (ethos or stance) of the scientific realist -i.e., the search for explanations even conjecturing unobservables, the goal of minimising the universe of brute facts- is incompatible with the attitude of a strong or ontological emergentist, one that resigns itself to leaving unexplained and as unexplainable some emergence phenomena, hence it is argued that scientific realism is inimical to this to this kind of emergentism, one resigned to ignorance. It is also argued that the realist attitude is preferable for scientific research, since the scientific realist wagers on keeping investigating and inquiring.
