摘要：
A general infrastructure to support virtual enterprises (VE) with specific focus on the needs of small and medium size enterprises is described. The proposed merger of a workflow-based multi-level process coordination with a federated information management represents a powerful approach to flexibility and agility in VEs. Finally, a number of prospects and current challenges in development of general frameworks for industrial virtual enterprises are addressed. Copyright (C) 2000 IFAC.
