Investigation of excitation-ionization using double coincidence measurements

Electron-impact excitation plus ionization processes are studied using the coincidence detection of two outgoing particles for He+ (n greater than or equal to 2). Triple differential cross sections (TDCS) are presented for the production of a He+ ion in its ground and excited states. Apart from the usual double-peaked structure of the TDCS, as is found in ground-state ionization, some secondary structures also appear for the excited states.
