摘要
The solubility of Ni in the ErB4 binary boride, up to the ErNi0.07B3.97 composition (space group P4/mbm, a = 0.70984(8) nm, c = 0.38938(6) nm) has been established using X-ray single-crystal method. In the ErB4 structure, the 0.28 Ni atoms additionally occupy the 2a crystallographic position which causes deficiency of the boron occupancy in the 4e position; R-F = 0.0298 for 281 independent reflections with F-0 > 4sigma(F-0). Such mode of the solid solubility for metal borides is revealed for the first time. (C) 2004 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
