摘要
A theoretical study has been made of the polarization of second harmonic acoustic waves in the non-linear reflection of a linearly polarized transverse wave from a free solid boundary. The angular dependencies of the effectiveness of the generation of different types of second harmonic wave on reflection are calculated. It is shown that in the pre-critical reflection region, the second harmonic waves are linearly polarized and the polarization of the reflected transverse harmonic differs from that of the fundamental reflected wave. In the super-critical region the transverse second harmonic wave becomes elliptically polarized. The main conclusions from the theory are confirmed by the results of experiments.
