摘要
This paper deals with the effects of applying standard and labeling for room air-conditioner in Malaysia. In the energy consumption sectors, air conditioners are seen as the electric appliance consuming the bulk of electricity in the residential area. According to a load survey in Malaysia, about 50 percent to 70 percent of the total power demand is consumed by the air conditioners in the residential area. With the increasing use of room air conditioners in Malaysia, it is time to set an efficiency standard for it. he present study aims at setting of a minimum efficiency standard for this appliance with respect to the climatic conditions of Malaysia. Extensive discussions are also presented regarding the standards and labeling set by other countries for room air conditioner.
