The influence of three monofunctional reactive dyes on the physico-mechanical properties, relaxation characteristics and deformation behaviour of viscose rayon is followed as a consequence of the structural alterations occurring during the process of dyeing. The alteration in the studied indices is of a complex character, which reflects the two-stage penetration of the dyes in which inter-fibril and inner-fibril amorphous regions of the structure differ in density. The alterations registered in the properties are the result of the complex influence of the relaxation processes and the 'cross-linking effect' in the regions of the viscose fibres mentioned.
