Multiphysics Method for Determination of the Stator Winding Temperature in an Electrical Machine

摘要
An advanced method for determination of the temperature of the stator winding in a high-speed electrical machine is presented. The implemented method is a numerical-multiphysics method that couples computational fluid dynamics and heat-transfer equations. The geometry of the fluid domain of the machine is considered to be 2D axi-symmetric and the stator is modelled in 3D geometry. The properties of the turbulent flow are obtained from the 2D model and they are implemented as boundary conditions in the 3D model. The method presented in this paper is successfully validated with measurements.
