摘要
After publication of the updated recommendations on vitamin K prophylaxis for newborn infants by the Nutrition Commission of the German Society of Pediatrics and Adolescent Medicine (DGKJ), questions arose on intravenous (i.v.) administration, in particular due to the accompanying temporarily reduced bilirubin binding capacity. Routine i.v. bolus administration of vitamin K should remain limited to the first dose immediately after birth and is contraindicated in newborn infants with unconjugated hyperbilirubinemia. For very immature newborn infants, an i.v. or intramuscular vitamin K administration after birth must be supplemented by oral vitamin K administration at the age of 1 month.
