Comparison of 2D particle-in-cell simulation with 1D nonlinear theory of helix traveling-wave tubes

Two-dimensional (2D) particle-in-cell (PIC) simulations, using MAGIC code, have been performed for wide-band helix traveling wave tubes (TWTs) in a large-signal regime. Fundamental and second-harmonic power calculated over a 1.5-octave frequency range of 6-18 GHz were compared and found to be in good agreement with those obtained by one-dimensional (1D) nonlinear theory.
