Stereoselective reduction followed by metalation of a eta(6) arene chromium tricarbonyl complex allows rapid access to substituted mitosanes, whose skeleton mimics the mitomycin family of antitumour agents. (C) 2000 Elsevier Science Ltd. All rights reserved.
