摘要：

In the title compound, [CdI2( C12H8N2)](n), the Cd-II ion is six-coordinate and has a distorted octahedral geometry. All the I atoms act as bridging ligands. Adjacent Cd coordination polyhedra share I center dot center dot center dot I edges, thus giving rise to a polymeric chain along the c axis. The Cd-II ion and the phenanthroline ligand are positioned on a twofold axis.
