Possible Design of Reflective Economic Education for Teacher Education at Secondary Schools

The subject-related basis for teacher education in economics is complex since it includes interdisciplinary links in addition to economics as a plural discipline. This means that it is necessary to enable future economics teachers to understand and reflect these different economic approaches. Building upon Tafner's idea of reflective business education, this paper aims at further developing the pedagogical foundations of economic education for secondary schools. We therefore focus upon the following guiding question: How do we need to design the content and pedagogical content facets of teacher education such that future teachers develop a reflective attitude towards the teaching material as well as the domain-specific foundation?
