Strengthening in a copper based nanocomposite

摘要
A copper based alloy powder reinforced with alumina dispersion was prepared by mechanical alloying and was consolidated via hot extrusion. The as-milled, annealed and extruded powders were characterised by XRD, SEM and microhardness measurements. The high hardness values obtained for the nanocomposite were rationalised in terms of existing strengthening mechanisms.
